3 day NFPA Tower Rescue – Fort Collins, CO

Tower Rescue for the fire service is one of Technical Rescue Systems most popular courses offered. TRS has been training the commercial tower climber safety, fall protection and rescue since 1999. As of January 2014 NFPA 1670 added one of two new sections / chapters to the standard titled “Tower Rescue”. To be a principle member of this standard from its inception has given us the opportunity to be one of the first to, not only offer, but understand the intent and authoring of this very important part of technical rescue. NFPA 1006 will soon be adding “Tower Rescue” to the newly “re-aligned” document with 1670. Communication towers offer a true challenge to any community fire department. There are many hazards on and around these towers. Understanding fall protection, radio frequency hazards, microwave radiation, electrical hazards, anchoring options and limitations, edge protection concerns, climbing requirements and understanding the many types of towers is only a part of what is covered in this course.
